So Santa comes down the chimney, and the Easter bunny hops into your yard, leaving baskets of goodies and hiding eggs, and the Tooth Fairy sneaks in and leaves cash or gift cards(modern day fairy version) under your pillow....how does Cupid make his appearance?

hmmm. I'll have to ponder this. Scantily clad little guy with arrows poised to shoot L O V E straight to your heart. Worked for me!!

Things that make me Smile!

Today was a busy day, filled with many challenges, and in deciding what to blog about, I decided to treat myself to a selection of photos that just simply make me happy!

No order to them, no real theme other than all of these just simply make me grin!!

Like these gorgeous flowers!

Now of course, my main man, makes me grin the widest! That's my sweet hubby, Peter!

anyone who knows me can appreciate my love for the beach...any beach! anywhere!

and for fresh flowers

especially Hydrangeas. They're so big and beautiful and I wish I could grow some. Could grow anything for that matter. I've got no green thumb!

Outdoor cafes. aaah the romance of a sidewalk cafe, sipping and nibbling on delicious yummies, with my sweet hubby of course!

Old fabulous architectural details. Isn't this an amazing piece of architecture?

It was larger than life, on a rooftop garden, in Canada! Does it get any better?

Oooh, I love old white churches too. They make me smile, and wonder at all of the people who have worshipped there through the ages. So peaceful and serene and simple in its beauty.

Barns. White barns. I'm obsessed with them.

I adore white barns, the shabbier the better because they show their weathered patina, and the barns seem so regal in being so old and still so purposeful.

And of course Antiques! Any time, any place, any kind! I get goose bumps when I see a sign like this, get a huge smile on my face, and feel happy just knowing there are myriad items that are inside, with stories, all waiting to be discovered!

Romance is in the Air!

I am such a Romantic. I love February! I got engaged in February, although not on Valentines Day. Hubby(well not yet) was working long hours that day, twenty years ago, so we got engaged on Feb. 16th! It's even better I think!

Anyway, I love the reds and pinks of February, don't you?

It's so easy to make your everyday decor into something much more with a simple heart wreath, or garland made from old music sheets, or a stenciled L O V E
across even a plain table runner!

Add some candles, some red candies and poof! Instant blissful love!

Even this naeutral display could benefit from some pinks or reds.

So here's to a month filled with love... for family, friends young and old!

It's a Prairie Sisters Party coming this month!

Have you heard about the big junk show that's coming to the Kalispell Fairgrounds this month?

It's run by Laura and Molly from Missoula, where their original show was held last September. We were a vendor there, and had an amazing show, and met tons of cool people too!

So needless to say, when I heard they were bringing their show to Kalispell, I signed up--we'll have 2 booths this time!! We'll bring our good stuff that we've saved for the Show, and still be open back in Columbia Falls too!

So you'll want to save Saturday February 25th for this junkin extravaganza! It will be in the Expo building and you'll hear more about it as the days draw closer. For more details, check out their web at www.theprairiesisters.com

Thanks everyone! A fun evening was had by all!!

DIVA night was amazing. We saw so many of you there on Friday night! We were so busy, that we forgot to take photos! So no photos of the evening, but we have some great stories to share, and these photos that were taken by Jaimie Nelson, photographer extraordinaire, on her last visit! Enjoy!

The party started early, at 4:30 or so, and by 6:00 pm the crowd was here! My husband had just finished graveling the parking lot. there were no more spaces left, so as he pulled away, 3 cars were juggling for his spot! Thanks to my kind neighbors for putting up with cars everywhere!(I offered them chocolate...)

My favorite story was when Sarah A. came in, told us she was just on her way to the store for some milk, saw the party and pulled in!! She joined the merriment and we even gave her several excuses to use to explain to her hubby why it took her so long!

( I hope she remembered the milk...)

I think this "N" stands for Nothing left! almost. You all cleaned us out of lots of pretties. We truly did sell out of our new line of Bling bracelets in one night, so I must get more in!

So these yummy handmade ruffled" snowballs" are really gorgeous, and our youngest DIVA, Sylvie, fell in love with them. She came up to my desk, asked the price, didn't have quite enough money left from her allowance, and walked sadly away. Believe it or not, Lucy, one of my very generous customers at the desk, overheard, and tucked enough money in Sylvie's hand to buy her "snowball".

Is that the best story? It makes my heart sing, and confirms the goodness of people and what amazing customers/friends we have here at Station 8. I am very Blessed!

We're ready to celebrate our return from our buying trip!!

We've worked twelve hour days, unloading,merchandising, creating vignettes, pricing and cleaning all our new vintage finds, so we're ready for the grand Re-Opening today!

I just love the bold graphics of signage. It adds such texture and wit to any room!

the British look is so hot right now, with the Union Jack flag and the phrase :Stay calm and Cary on, everywhere. It has been my motto all week. I kept chanting it whenever I needed to reassure myself that we could get it all done! It worked!

Okay, that bed looks so comfy, that I may just have had to test it out with a little nap at one point this week... maybe.....just a tiny little nap.

Our pretty new line of soaps, in vintage decorative bottles, perfect for the kitchen!

So thank you to my team this week: Rachel, Ina , Vanessa, Josh, Harry, Joe and for the inspiring words of encouragement from Amy and Barb and Kristy. I appreciate and need all of you!

Road Trips are such an Adventure!

Ah the thrill of travel. Being on the road. Getting away from it all. The adventure, the excitement, the challenge. THE ICE! THE SNOW! THE WIND! Rachel and I had quite the exciting trip--our first one in 2012, and about our 12th(or more) together, and just when we think we've seen and done it all...

This is just a peek at what we experienced in Seattle. This is the trailer hitch, the all important trailer hitch that keeps the trailer filled to capacity with our goodies towing nicely behind the suburban. Does ice affect how it tows? hmmmm never experienced that, so we'll see!

side mirrors are another important item to have and use while towing. You know you can't see out of the rearview mirror because there's just a big white box in view, so relying on side mirrors becomes critical. "objects may appear larger in mirror" doesn't even begin to tell the story when its coated with an inch of ice!

Ah, but then there's the beauty of it all. Branches coated with ice, clanking together like chimes when the wind blows...

Somehow being stranded in the hotel room for 3 days sounds fun, except when all of the shops are closed due to weather, and Rachel can't go out and shop and escape from Colette, who's sick for all 3 days...Did I mention road trips are an adventure????

We made a break for it on Friday, and got in line with all of the semis going over the pass, and white knuckled it when the severe winds kicked up and came at us through the canyon. But, we are hardy Montana girls, and wanted to get our load of treasures home, because the trailer really is filled with amazing stuff!!!!!

We are remerchandising the store from jan 23-26, REOPENING JAN. 27, so plan on joining us for DIVA night friday night Jan. 27th, 6-9PM.

We love our job!

This is what we woke up to! And we thought what a great day for a Flea Market!

Ok we really do love our job! Even when we are shleping and loading furniture in the Snow!! We just looked at each other and said "Heres something we haven't done before!" And being hardy Montana girls (pulling a trailer), we thought this is nothing we can drive just fine in a little snow, and then it dawned on us...Oh crud can the other millions of people around us drive in snow???

It was actually coming down sideways!

Did I mention it was really cold, and wet!!! And of course perfect for taking pictures!

This is the location of the Second Saturdays Flea Market where we shleped many great finds out to the trailer in the before mentioned cold, wet, blowing, snow!

We really do love our jobs...

The Adventures of Colette & Rachel continue!

So Saturday morning, at the crack of dawn, Rachel and I head to the sEcond SAturday flea market. I dropped rachel offf at the curb so she could stand in the long line, while I parked the trailer. Yikes! By the time I got done, she was laready inside, doing what she loves--BUYING!

We metamazing people,like Lori and her gorgeous daughters Amanda & her sister.

Their booth was darling and delicious and I wanted to just bring it all back to Montana, including the girls! (they helped carry my purchases out--thanks girls!)

Here's some of their delightful goods for sale. Aren't they delicious?

There were just so many scrumptious things to tempt our budget, so we had to prioritize and edit and tell ourselves "we just can't take it all home!" We do have limits!

This is one of the" over the top talented artists" that was at the show, and of course, I bought several of her creations. You'll just have to wait till I get home to see the goodies!

And this incredible woman had amazing items-vintage, handmade, everything!

Look at the piles, the masses of goods--we shopped for hours!

And so many clever displays and lovelies!

So, needless to say, Rachel found some amazing things, I kept giving her money, she kept buying more and more and more...

So the show was a success for us. Let's just say we have many many goodies. We found industrial, salvage, leather, and so some of our favorites.

But you will have to wait till we get back, unload, display it all, and then come to our DIVA night January 27th to see what we bought!!!!!

We're on the road Again!

Rachel, get the trailer hooked up so we can leave already!

Okay, so winter driving isn't the prettiest, but the trailer doesn't mind that its dirty. it just wants to be on the road, and loaded up with tons of goodies!

Just in case anyone flags us down on the highway and wants to peek at our goodies, we make them drive back to Columbia Falls Montana to see our stuff!

It's Time for the Children's Market!

We've waited all year for it....snow? Wearing our long john's? No No No! the children's Christmas Market at Station 8!

A tented room just for the children to shop in! Filled with yummy, delightful gifts for the entire family.

All priced for the child's budget, and starting at 25 cents! We help them select, wrap and tag their gift choices, and all parents have to do is bring in the kids! Leave the rest to us!

And of course, while the children are shopping, you can meander the shop and see what's fresh and ready for gift giving!

so now we can hope for snow, and put on our long johns and build some snowmen soon!!

Children's Market runs from Dec. 9-14th, and yes we are open Sundays through Christmas!

New to Station 8 is jewelry by Lisa Souers Designs. Lisa is a very creative jewelry artist who we met at the Farm Chicks show in June. I fell in love with her things, and decided we just had to carry them in the shop.

Of course on the finer side of things we have Montana sapphire jewelry by Gold Creek Jewelry. Made right here in Columbia Falls by our good friend and co-worker Devie Brown.

Get ready, get set..... Here comes Open House!

You know, it all starts with an idea. Ispired by an item. Nothing really extraordinary; simple leather trimmed suitcases. Pair these with some other vingage finds, add a little elf (meaning us) magic and we have a great vintage look for our traditional Christmas vignette!
A few old chippy peely shutters, in my favorite color...

A bit of whimsy with a darling vintage green colored child's chair. Just simple items in sweet colors to inspire us in creating our themes for Holiday Open House! and do we have the ideas!

We are in the final stages with the themes and vignettes we're doing for Nov. 5th! These photos are just our inspiration pieces to give you a hint of what you'll see.
We will, of course, have to be shut the entire week leading up to the Open House (No peeking!), because we will be changing the ENTIRE store to reopen on the 5th. Oh what fun!!!!

Quirky Has Arrived!

They call me Quirky! I think it started way back (2 years ago), when my mother-in-law was telling Colette that I would make a great employee, and she said "her style is kind of quirky". Well we all know I was promptly hired on, and have been playing, I mean working really hard ever since!Recently I decided to branch out, and start my very own shop in Station 8 (where else)! Of course, after suprisingly very little consideration, I decided to name it Quirky! Pictures are worth a thousand words, as they say, so here are some of my new space!

Did I mention I have the very best boss in the whole wide world! I am so very blessed to not only be an employee of Station 8, but now also a vendor!

So far Quirky is a blend of out of the ordinary vintage items, books, and furniture. Soon I will be adding new unique jewelry, and gifts.

This map is my very favorite thing! It's a 1950's school map that is also a chalk board! I recently called it quirkalicious! You really have to come and see it in person...

My very first sale! I was so excited!

So if you tend to walk on the quirky side, come in and check it out!

Eeek! Boo! Time for the leaves to fall, the pumpkins to get carved and costumes to be found! It's Spooky time!

Nothing like a glow in the dark votive stand to make a dramatically witchy centerpiece on your autumn table

And how spookilicious is this? I wonder what happened to the woman writing her memoirs......she left in a hurry no doubt!

And sometimes simple is best too. A classsic pumpkin with a bit of a subtle Boo will do!

You know, I have asked the girls to dust and clean, the cobwebs are getting our of control....

Recognize any of your ancestors up there? A charming alternative for a window valance. Just hang a clothesline, or bit of jute, clip on some vintage gloves and old photos, and you have a charming and intriguing window valance!

Look at her new yummies, that have just arrived Today! Jill has a very discerning eye to detail, and is extremely hip with what the hot looks are in vintage decor! She compliments my other fabulous vendors, don't you think?

Jewelry hangers, wall plaques, bulletin boards, and mid size furniture will be her specialty, all with amazingly affordable prices!

SPOOKY!

Things are getting a little SPOOKY here at the shop! No, it's not because Colette is on vacation and left me in charge (well not entirely)...

Colette has gotten into the spirit of things, and knowing that I love all things Spooky, brought me these lovely bleached out old bones to play with! I think they are perfect for a porch.

She even let me play with cob webs this year! I'm a happy girl!

It was a dark and stormy night....

Do not panic ladies! It's not real, but it looks real! So I couldn't help but add a few bugs from the collection of bug magnets that Flower Frog (one of our lovely vendors) brought in.

Prairie Sisters party!

The Party was amazing! Did you get to go to it? On Saturday, it was a one day Market in Missoula, at the fairgrounds. A junkin, vintage show complete with food, old cars and trucks, airstreams and such for the guys to enjoy while the women SHOPPED!!

Station 8 was there! We came, we saw, we sold, we had a blast with Laura & Molly--the Prairie Sisters! They put on the nicest show I have been to here in Montana, and it was huge! The turnout was over 1600 people in attendance, so it is going to just keep getting bigger and better, and will be a MUST GO TO destination!

Rachel was looking very gypsy in her velvet combo and was selling everything we brought!! It was crazy! I kept replenishing, remerchandising and trying to keep stuff up off the floor, as Rachel sold the trunks, chests, desks, tables, chairs, benches,bed, and more!
Everytime I looked, more had sold and she just kept me running, delivering and restocking!

We made lots of new friends...here's a few of them! This is the owner of Diggs!

And she had the most amazing lampshade that she made for this cool floor lamp! Way cute! (and I forget her name...) But I'll remember her face!

And we were in the coolest old barn--what a perfect setting and we had perfect autumn weather!

And some of the old vehicles that the guys were all drooling over...This one belongs to my friends Janie and Rob!

And of course, the crowds just kept pouring in all day long.

So what did we bring back from the show??

The best Labor Day weekend!

So it seems that the theme for this year's Labor day weekend getaway was "sitting".

(yes, those chairs you see are going to make an appearance in the shop real soon!)

I sat on the bench in the morning,and afternoon, and in the evening.....
I sat on the fence watching the cows, the sky, the dogs....

Hubby sat on the deck, reading, playing with the dogs and, snoozing......(oops I wasn't supposed to tell!)

What a great time we had!

But it wasn't all just sitting. We walked, we ate, we slept in, we drove, and of course we junked!

Isn't it just lovely to have a long weekend!

Autumn is here and it's the best season as far as I'm concerned. Warm days, cool nights, and September just transitions from summer to fall with the crispness in the air that I thrive on!

And the change of season means we can change decor on the porch! Yippee! Here's to a happy and long warm September!

Gypsy Joy arrives at Station 8!

We like change here at Station 8. We like new "old" stuff. We like to be fresh and fun!
So wait until you see what is soon to be a "new release!"

We're calling our new look "Gypsy". Think of bold colors, velvets, romantic, nomadic styles.

Of course, no gypsy look would be complete without chippy turquoise paint.

And what gypsy would be without her bright, patchwork, kaleidoscope of colors?

So, come in for a preview of this Gypsy styling.

My gypsy genius, Rachel, will be starting the new vignette on Wednesday Aug. 31!

We are back everyone! We pulled in with the loaded trailer late last night after 3 days of intense Junking!
You won't believe what we found, and the trailer will be unloaded by next week!
So here is a very sneak peek into the trailer as we are loading it up.You'll see a bit of aqua, a bit of industrial, a bit of jewel tones to tempt you.

New things make me smile!

Let me just start off by saying new things make me smile, therefore I smile alot around here!!!
Of course you all know about our buying trips where we go out on the road (smiling of course), and search the countryside to bring back the bestest, most fun items we can find to fill the store with. This is one of those most fun items we just had to have, and we liked it so much we bought two! We were told that they came out of a lawyers office. I envisioned them as a kitchen island with a stainless steel top. What do you think? We would love to hear your ideas! And if you love it as much as we do you better hurry on in and snag it because I'm sure they won't last!

Oh yeah our next trip is next week so be sure to come in and see what we find next!

How cute is this old aqua cart, with a vintage window on top? Betsy just remerchandised our patio and it is adorable!

I love these old aqua garden pieces that can be repurposed! This one is in a cute old wheelbarrow to show it off better!

And aren't old chairs fun in the yard? Paint this one a fun bright summer color and put your freshly cut posies in the bottles for instant chic!

Yard Sale Mania!

So it's now Saturday evening, Day 2 of the yard Sale event at Station 8. I am numb. I can barely move. Oh my goodness gracious me. We sold EVERYTHING! Almost. And yet, Day 3 will begin again tomorrow, Sunday, and I can't even imagine we have any more to bring out. But I will go into the deep dark recesses of my "Stockroom" and see what I can find to entice shoppers to return yet again!!

We piled it high, heaped it up, marked it down, then marked it down some more, then bargained with people, and we Had a Blast!!!

So I think this bed may still be available. I can't remember. Isn't it awesome? Guess how much? $500? No $300? Nope. How about a fabulous custom Montana made log bed, queen size, for ........$100??!!! Yes!

Okay and how about these adorable parlor chairs for your porch? Painted red maybe? Or robin's egg blue?
I know, super cute and they are still here!!!
Okay, that's all I've got for tonight. I must go rescue my husband who is still tarping and tying down the tables!

Newest vendor Amy's Blissful Blooms decor!

Welcome to my newest vendor, "Amy's Blissful Blooms Decor!"
Amy moved into Station 8 on Saturday July 16th, after much anticipation from many folks.
Her husband Josh, helped hang the windows and ladder shelf, so Amy would be set up for success, as I say, then he took off, and let us girls do our decorating thing!! Sweet man!

So here is a bit of Blissful Blooms, showing her carefree, fun, whimsical style, which is a much needed look here at Station 8! We love whimsy!

Amy has already proven she has a great eye, as a few of her best pieces have already sold!
Now, don't wait...hurry into the shop and snag that yummy chalkboard cake carrier, or that adorable blue retro cooler! Wouldn't it be darling on the porch or in your mud room for hats and stuff??? Hmmm, perhaps I'd better grab it!

Do you know how much fun it is to see who walks into my shop on any given day?
It is simply THE BEST when I am surprised when the door opens and I see someone who I haven't seen in ages!
It was like that on Tuesday, every time I looked up when I heard the screen door slap shut, and I would see all my favorite people!
Karen Sue, Vicki, Cathy & John, Gale Marguerite--it was just one big Hug Fest! Wow! I am one lucky lady when I get to visit with all of you! Thank you for making my day special, and for reminding me that the reason I am here is because of the amazing people I am connected to!

Hi Everyone!
If you're like me, you love accessories! and the more the better! Who says I can't wear 7 bangles and a scarf, and 3 necklaces all together?

You know, the more you layer on, the better, as far as I'm concerned. And why not jingle and jangle when you move your arm?

Parade time!

When I think of the 4th of July I think of parades, popsicle sticky kids, dozens of flags, and of course, fireworks!
So let the parade begin! We're ready with our scooter and tricycle leading the celebrations this weekend!

Happy Independence Day everyone! Enjoy gathering with friends and family, barbecuing, and spending time with family and friends. And let's fire off a few firesworks for all of those in service fighting for our Freedom!

IS SUMMER HERE TO STAY?

It's a sure sign that summer is in full swing when you drive by a firework stand (that has sat dormant for 11 months), and their are people there frantically unpacking boxes!

Are you ready? Independance day is one of those holidays that always sneaks up on me. I don't know why, it's on the same day every year! Here at Station 8 we are ready, thanks to our lovely vendor Cheryl who has brought her love of all holidays to us here at the store. She calls it My Maddness, and this month she has brought us a great selection of all things patriotic! We're loving it!

We've done it! We are set up for all of the summertime fun: camping hiking, fishing, river rafting....
So now we just need Mother Nature to cooperate and give us a bit of summer sun!

We are emptying the trailer as fast as we can go, bringing out all of our new goodies from the Farm Chicks Show!

So, I am still not a great blogger, and my photos are blurry, and I don't have many photos because my batteries went low, but my heart is in blogging, and I know I will get better.

They call me Quirky!

Yes, I have often been referred to at Station 8 as the Queen of quirky! I don't know why? It could be because early on I developed a fondness for putting very interesting things in the stores many vintage birdcages.

It all started with a stuffed fish... I don't know what made me do it, but as Betsy would say it had to be done, and in the birdcage it went! Since then I have had many different and very unbirdlike items in the the many cages we have had. Of course here are a couple of examples. In the picture above, well they are flying pigs!
I just thought she looked like she needed to be contained, and once I had the mermaid in I had to put in our copy of Andersen's Fairy tales and open it to the Tale of the Little Sea Maid. It all makes sense to me!

Of course the quirk is not only limited to birdcages, so come in and see what other new, and quirky things we have going on at Station 8!

Farm Chicks Show is coming soon!

Here a chick there a chick everywhere a chick chick! Farm Chick that is! We are officially in Farm Chick frenzy mode here at Station 8. There's only a few days left of preparation before we leave on June 2!And the show is June 4 and 5th.! Yeehaw! Are you all going? It is going to be even more amazing this year, with more vendors! We are going to have two spaces again this year, and we really are taking the good stuff with us. Our plan is to then return with a full trailer of new goodies that we source from the show too!

So put on your aprons, petticoats, overalls, whatever Farm attire and come join us!
We'll be the ones with ruffled flowers blooming on our heads!

Grand Prize Winner!

Did I mention the fact that our Open House in Columbia Falls was a huge success, and that we had a prize basket to giveaway to some lucky winner??? Well, the basket was filled with $50 gift certificates from all the 6 participating businesses, and also included a pair of sapphire earrings donated from Gold Creek Jewelry(she has a shop here in Station 8), as well as an Ipod from Coffee Traders, and even a cute ball cap from The Rack Clothing Co. WOW! We drew Robin Stephens name, and she's pictured here( Robin is the pretty brunette with the HUGE smile on her face!) with Sally from Fashion Finds,and me ! Robin said the "Spring Open House was a great outing for the girls, and even the whole family!" She loved the refreshments we all served, and when weary from shopping, took a break and had lunch at Coffee Traders. She's wearing the new blouse she bought at Fashion Finds!Robin said she's thrilled to have our shops all here in C Falls!! & said "I wish more people understood how great the day was and how great the shops are here!"
Wow! Thanks Robin, for your support, your enthusiasm, and for buying local!!

New and fresh!

Rachel has done it again! She loaded up her suburban, and filled it with amazing pieces, all in fabulous fresh colors for spring. Pink, aqua,& (sigh) robins egg blue . We just put these out onto the floor, so thought I'd share these photos of them crammed in the back of her vehicle! She even removed seats to stuff al the goods in, and had help from a very sweet man(Amy you got a good guy there--thanks Josh!) in order to fit everything in!! Bliss! I just love fresh yummies!

Spring is here!!!

Did you gasp in awe at our 2 days of sunshine in a row??? I am dazzled with the brilliance of the green grass, trees bursting into their new green outfits, and the freshness in the air!! Yippeee!! springtime is here!

And because it is now actually feeling like spring, we are going to be open on Mondays now! That's right, we are now here Monday through Saturday to tempt and tantalize you with our springtime decor and gifts.
So, come see us, and you'll probably even start seeing us wearing sandals and capris and dancing around the store with happiness!

Chocolate Anyone!

So we decided to take the plunge this time with our DIVA night, into CHOCOLATE that is! The very lovely Becky and Todd from Amazing Crepes loaned us their chocolate fountain for the evening, and we were up to our elbows in rich, creamy chocolate (every girls dream)! If you were at our DIVA night last night, you know how much fun (and chocolate) we had. Now if you couldn't make it, especially all of you out of towners, who had major snow, here are a few photos, proof that fun was had by all.

Ina is sporting the DIVA cap, with a plate of what else, but chocolate covered strawberries! By the end of the evening I don't think there was a finger, face or elbow that didn't have some chocolate on it! We even had some chocolaty finger prints on the receipts!

Thank you to all who came out and shared the evening with us! And don't forget our next event is our Spring open house Saturday May 7th!

Windy Wyoming, on to Colorado & Back!

So we took off on April 3, to deliver a fabulous antique cabinet to our sweet Sandy, in Ft Collins Colorado. I checked weather along the route, and it was to be 60 degrees, balmy and sunny. Right! Pack your spring clothes Rachel, we're going to have fantastic weather! So take a look at the photo of Rachel now, does her hair look normal? She's INSIDE the suburban and she has the Justin B. look going on. Why? There's an 80 mph wind happening, and she's inside!!!!! Now take a look at me. I may be smiling, but that's because I'm laughing at Rachel's hairdo as she's taking my photo. We're in Casper Wyoming and yes, the sun is shining, but we can't stand upright!! Okay, enough about the weather, let's discuss the shopping! Wow! We hit the boutiques of Ft Collins, note the street scene where we strolled up and down looking for fabulous product, and note the green grass and garden, and yes, real flowers planted there! We love Ft Collins!! And yes, the shot of the trailer may not show all the yummies we brought back, but look close and you'll see images of shabby peely paint and the color aqua, and old garden furniture and vintage typewriters, and even blanket covered industrial chests.... and it will all be unpacked soon. Windy Wyoming!

As you all know every road trip is an adventure! This is what we have learned so far on this trip to Fort Collins Colorado (wish we could add pictures). 1. It's always windy in Wyoming!! 2. When the neon sign over the interstate says the road is closed to light weight trailers due to high winds, you listen and take the alternate route. 3. The alternate route is prettier anyway! 4. Not many rest stops on the alternate route. 5. When Colette comes out of the outhouse rest stop and says "heres what you need to know" you may want to consider holding it awhile longer! 6. Wind swirls up from the hole in an outhouse. Does anyone know if they make hand sanitizer for your nostrils? Rachel really wanted some! 7. Pair of gloves and Colettes left boot may need to be burned after the incident with the Wyoming outhouse! 8. When you lose the camera, look between your feet on the car floor! 9. When you lose the cell phone, look in the parking lot! This is what we have learned so far! Four days to go I'm sure we will have more wisdom to share by the time we are done! All the best! On the Road Again!

I just can't wait to get on the road again! I think the song goes something like that! We are excited to say our wait is almost over...We're off to the Denver area on Sunday! I know it seems like we're always going somewhere, and it's a tough job, but somebody has to do it! Fortunately for all of our customers we will remain open while we are away! There will be no Station 8 withdrawl this time!

So, I wanted to tempt you all with some lovely pictures of a few of the goodies we brought back from our last adventure! Like all of these lovely clock faces we found on our trip to Seattle.

DIVA Night Success!

We had a very successful third DIVA Date at Station 8! Thank you to the Faith family for participating, and letting us help you promote The Princess Ball! Of course we had a blast as always, and Candy your pink champane cupcakes were lovely! The Princess Ball is this Saturday, March 26th. We hope it is a great success! The Faith family Josh, Candy (in the spectacular ball gown), and Candy's mom Jennifer.

Betsy in all her finery! She sure does know how to strike a pose!

Colette is all smiles in her aqua frock!

And of course the three of us Station 8 girls! Look closely it may be the only time you ever see us all in dresses!

Diva's and Princesses

Are you a Diva or a Princess? Here at Station 8 we don't see why you should have to choose! We believe that there is a little bit of both in every girl. That's just one reason why we asked the Faith family, the founders of the Princess Ball to join us for our third DIVA date this Friday!

The Princess Ball is a fundraiser being held in memory of Valicity Faith, a very courageous little princess who lost her battle with leukemia last July. The ball will be held March 26th in the ballroom above Alpine Lighting in Kalispell, and includes silent and live auction's! All the proceeds will be donated to Angel Flight West. Tickets for the Princess Ball will be sold at Station 8 during our DIVA date this Friday March 18! So please come support this great cause!

Of course there will be the usual chocolate, wine, and shopping, does it get any better than that? Yes it does! Did I mention ball gown's? We will all be dressed for the occasion in ball gowns, and accessories from Fasion Finds! Just one more reason to come join the fun (it's not often we shed the jeans and boots for gowns)!

Seattle Adventures #2

On our recent adventures in the Seattle area we spent an entire day in the sweet little town of Snohomish Wa. Everybody that's familiar with the area had told us it was a must for antiques, so we drove the few miles from where we were staying in Monroe to check it out! I have to say not only did we find some vintage goodies to bring home, but we were inspired by all the wonderful shops.

And did I mention the sunshine! It was a gorgeous day! We had a blast strolling the streets, doing what we love the most, Shopping! And Colette basking in the sunshine in front of her favorite color, does it get any better?

Seattle Adventures #1

Everything fits in the Suburban!!? Ok so we found the one thing that won't fit in the Suburban! And of course we had to have it, and it was already bought and paid for. What to do? Strap it in!Rachel: "I'll hang on to it!"

Yes, even in the city, in bumper to bumper traffic, us Montana girls do whatever it takes to get the job done!

Seattle travels!

Greetings all! We have spent the last four days soaking up, no not the rain, the sun in the lovely Seattle area. And as promised we have halted in all of our frantic shopping to share it with you. Sadly we are not able to post any pictures yet, as we do not have the ability on the laptop. You know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words, start counting (just kidding)! We more or less just wanted you all to know that we are still on the planet, all is well, and we are finding the most delicious things for the store. Like lovely moss covered garden salvage, industrial pieces to die for, and yummy spring colored furniture and accents to chase away winter. Just a few things for you to think about until we get back!!!

We're goin on a Buying Trip!

So this is a picture of our best friend! At least when we're going on a buying trip! Rest assured there will be an after shot with it packed full of all our new goodies.

Our destination this time is the Ruffles & Rust show in Monroe WA., and all the little towns in between. For all of you familiar with the tv. show American Pickers you can imagine what it's like, only I think we have way more fun, and we dress cuter! If only we had a car cam...

As it is not possible for us to be in two places at once, you may experiance a phenomenon we call SWS, or"Station 8 Withdrawl Syndrome." This is experienced when you drive by our cute little shop and the windows are dark, and when you call and get the machine. This phenomenon is not permanent, and will cease to exist on the 24th, with no lasting side effects.

Well ladies, for those of you who were in attendance to our very first, DIVA Date night, you know the fun we had! Friday night was a blast, and very well attended. Rachel(who looks very intense) drew winning names every 15 minutes, all night long, and we had treat bags ready to give the winners!

Calling all DIVA'S!

Okay, so you know how in Antiques stores, you read the tags, and everything says "Rare" "Unique" "As Found".
Well, these terms make us giggle, and so my sweet Rachel, put "As Found" on this aqua tee and gave it to me for my birthday.
Are you laughing as hard as I still am?!!!! Just wait till she sees what I'm putting on her tee!!!!

So needless to say we laugh at ourselves a lot, and that may be just what we will do this Friday night, at our very first DIVA Date!
We're going to try and dress up as Diva's and show some fashions, from my friend Sally's clothing shop(Fashion Finds), and we plan on having a bit of chocolate, & a few Divine Desserts and a little wine and.... just come join us!

January 28th 6-9PM!! Dress up as a Diva, or just come after work or as you are, and we'll have some drawings and some fun and for sure, a lot of laughs!!

Things that make me smile

Things that put a smile on my face, on a very dreary rainy icy Friday:
Getting an unexpected phone call from a very good friend
Getting a helping hand to carry in a really heavy sofa
Hearing the giggle of a 3 year old, cute blondie that she is!
Having the local hardware store deliver ice melt, without being asked
Seeing the sign that reads" Only 66 days until Spring"

And somehow these and all the other small kindnesses make everything better and I can cope with my office that is flooding, and the toilet handle that just broke again for the gazillionth time....

Did we Mention we're Goin to the Farm Chicks 2011 show?

So we're off and running! Planning for the Farm Chicks 2011 show, that is! So many items to paint and price and fluff and buff! Less than 6 months to do it all!

We have buying trips to go on, and barns to scavenge and trailers to fill!

And then we have to store it away and not bring it into the shop and sell it now! How do we do that? We want to display it all now...maybe we'll set up a pseudo Farm Chicks booth in our shop with a "Don't Touch" sign? yeah right. Like we can wait. But we must!

Time will fly though and I know we will be loading the trailer to go to the show and won't even remember way back in January, the agony of waiting!!

A Bright and Happy New Year!

I love the thought of a New Year just around the corner!
I think there is such optimism with a brand new start to the year.
Filled with nothing but newness, and potential! Do you feel that way too?

I love ringing in the new year with friends and a fairly subdued night,and watch the fireworks exploding in the harsh cold wintry sky!

My husband and I always take a long walk or go skiing on New Year's Day--being out of doors and connecting to nature is so calming and refreshing.

Isn't it a glorious Christmas Eve morning, I thought! With joy in my heart, and a smile on my face, I started my day.

It's all about the Children!

The countdown is upon us--two more days until my store will be filled with the squeal of children's voices, the giggles and hushed voices too! I can't wait!!

The start of my 3rd Annual Christmas Market, just for kids, begins Friday! We have created a magical entrance to this year's event, and Rachel and Betsy have outdone themselves! I came in today and saw their creation--Magical and glittery and very winter wonderlandish! and the goodies that we have gathered for the Market --wow! Good stuff parents!

My dreary old stockroom has been transformed into a bright happy magical shop! It's like Santa's workshop back there now--a place I actually want to visit! Great job everyone!
So come one, come all to our special market--bring the kiddies, bring their allowance, bring the list of who they're shopping for-- we are ready to make it a Magical experience!

Big Sky Blues!

Today is such a wintry, snowy, day with no blue sky in sight, I felt I needed to share some gorgeous "Montana Big Sky" blues. Nothing like the white of snow with the wintry blues to be a stark contrast.

Can you believe it's already December? I so wish this month would go on slow motion...just to have the time to enjoy the lead up until Christmas.

And to linger over each day and enjoy looking out the window at the snow perched on the trees, covering each limb. It really is a very beautiful season, isn't it? And to have time to take a walk in the evening and hear the crunch crunch of the icy snow underfoot....okay, I really do love the snow and just want to go outside and Play!!!
I tried to take a photo of the snow today, but camera wasn't functioning, so maybe I can get some great shots soon!
In the meantime, just enjoy our wintry weather, and know that somewhere above the clouds is our brilliant blue sky--just like you see here!

Time to Decorate!

The song, "These are a few of my favorite things" is playing and I thought I'd share a few of my favorite ornaments with you, as it seems time to put up the tree! Almost the end of November, and now that we've feasted at Thanksgiving, the focus can be on December and decorating! Don't you love unwrapping all of the boxes of Christmas decor that have been packed away, and placing treasured ornaments on the tree. I love reminiscing and remembering when I received each one!

Enjoy the time spent decorating and creating new memories everyone!

So Very Thankful!

So much to be thankful for! I know how very fortunate my husband and I feel again this year.
We have each other, our health, and our family and friends who mean so much. Does it get any better? We will be having a simple turkey dinner tomorrow, and will spend the day enjoying talking on the phone to family members who live far away. We'll take a long walk in the afternoon, reflecting on the many blessings we have.

I love being out in the country on Thanksgiving, it is so peaceful and tranquil, and allows me to feel the gratitude I have in my heart...

Wishing each of you a day filled with family, friends, and good food!
(I'll be making the pumpkin pies tonight and can't wait for the house to be filled with those yummy aromas from the kitchen. Let's eat!!)

The Eve of Our Holiday Open House!!

So here is the sneak preview of our Holiday set up!
Our Open House begins in less than 12 hours, and yes, I am still here playing!
I can't seem to leave, as I keep finding one more thing to tweek, or adjust or straighten!!
and just wait till you see all the deliciousness we have in the shop for you to feast on!
Handmade pinwheels for your tree made of vintage music paper, old crystal bottle stoppers wired to hang on your tree, crocheted vintage ornaments, gold angels, peacocks and musical notes!
And then there are all of the amazing mirrors--an entire wall of them that will catch the flicker of our candles and twinkling of the hundreds of lights!

Okay,I am so filled with the holiday spirit, and with gratitude for my amazing team who put all of this together, and for all the blessings I have. Come see my "Blessed Christmas" theme , and partake in the spirit of the season--

New yummies!

So I just had to show you what my girls were up to yesterday!
Look at that amazing wall, done by Rachel. She signed her masterpiece, by putting her initial "R" right smack dab in the middle of all those luscious frames! Okay, can you look real close and see what she used to cover up a portion of the wall?? Look closer! Yes! You're right--BURLAP! Okay, so I am in awe and of course want to immediately go home, and put some burlap up on my sun room wall, and layer empty frames over it. " For Cute!"

And this scrumptious green desk/ hutch yummy just came in to Flower Frog shop--Kristy Alm's boutique here. Isn't it just the best green you've seen? Love Love Love it!

So now you have a peek at what we're getting in, and it will all be different for our Holiday Open House November 6th!!!
I 'll post photos of us elves next week, since we're closed 1st-5th to decorate!!

Autumn & hot dogs go together, right?

Okay, if this isn't the cutest photo of Rachel, my Assistant, I don't know what is!
We were on our Buying trip, and happened to be staying downtown Spokane, and when we pulled in, we saw the gigantic Oscar Meyer car! Of course I made her pose so I could photo document the moment!!

I remember seeing this years ago, and thinking what a great marketing idea this was! Maybe I should get something original to drive for Station 8? Hmm... We'll have to think about what we could do to the trailer...oh honey, do you mind if I paint the trailer??!!

Well, we are in full Autumn mode here, even the weather is cooperating with amazing sunshine days and crisp, cool temps!

New Neutrals just in!

Isn't it amazing how quickly we can embrace the new season? With the first hard frost, I am suddenly looking to neutrals and warm tones, both in my wardrobe and in my shop. Gone is my desire for aqua, pinks and pastels. I want the warmth of burnt oranges, deeper blues, saffrons and chocolates browns. So that is what I am bringing into the shop, and what I'm wearing!!

I was inspired to create a completely new vignette today, and now I want to do more! Wish I knew how to attach more photos...hmmm... lessons still to learn as I embrace the art of blogging.

Enjoy the autumn weather we're having, and cozy up your home with the warmth of autumn colors and textures.

Mad Hatters fun!

So here is Rachel with some of our treasures found at the awesome Mad Hatters show!
We got there early and were 5th in line and could barely contain ourselves peeking at the many goodies spilling out from the tents set up in the yard of the Old Grange Hall.
The ribbon barricadekept us from grabbing, and promptly at 4:00PM, the show opened! Rachel raced to the tents, and I raced upstairs into the Grange Hall. Packed with thousands of treasures. Aqua furniture, old suitcases, shutters with peely paint. Vintage letters and numbers and ....wait is that what I think it is......YES! YES! YES! OLD GYM BASKETS!!!! Mine! All mine! I bought all of them ladies. I just had to. They will soon make an appearance on the sales floor, so come and get em!

And so we spent several hours at the show, reconnecting with many friends from the various shows we've attended--Farm Chicks, Vintage Barn and it was a truly fun evening! We love our road trips, and we especially love filling the trailer with all of the hundreds of yummies we find!
