ARE YOU READY FOR THE FARM CHICKS SHOW?

Ok, I think we're almost ready. Well we were almost all packed and ready to load in the trailer, and then we got a phone call from the local paper... So yesterday we were frantically unpacking, and then putting together a quick vignette of the look we're taking with us, for a photo shoot for the Daily Interlake!!!! About thirty minutes later we had it staged. Our packing job went somewhat out the window, but Nate, the photographer got some great shots this morning. Now we're really looking forward to reading the article in this Sunday's paper.

We are so excited about the show that we have dragged some of our fantastic customers into the frenzy! Have I ever mentioned that we have the absolute best customers? Well we do! One of whom volunteered to help us by getting all of our shopping bags ready for the show. Thank you Amy! Many others have been in the shop lately with many questions about what we're taking to the Farm Chicks. Of course we have told them that the things we are taking along are all in the stockroom, therefore giving our stockroom the new title of The Treasure Chest!!! If they only knew...

See you in 9 days!
All the best,
Colette & Rachel

The excitement is building...only 17 more days until The Farm Chicks show, I need one of those calanders like kids use at Christmas to count down the days (I wonder if I have one in the stock room?)! We leave in only 15 days! Oh my I can't wait!!
So on Monday, we priced the majority of our treasures. Thre are definately deals to be had! We have such cute stuff! A great mix of guy and girly. Fabulous old cameras, typewriters, fans, framed botanicals, burlap stepstools...all centering around our " British Colonial" look. We'll add a bit of velvet, lace, linen and silver pieces for texture and sparkle. And of course lots of antique gold frames and drapey netting over the tent to give that touch of romance!
The goody's are priced, the trailer is ready to be packed, and most importantly the outfits have been purchased! I think we're ready. Hope to see you there.
All the best,
Colette & Rachel The Montana Farm Chicks.

Where did Wednesday go?

Okay, I admit it. I lost Wednesday. Have you ever misplaced a day? As I'm sitting in bed last night, drinking a cup of tea, reflecting on what a great day it had been, suddenly, the word Blog leaped into my head and I realized Wednesday was coming to a close without my posting. Horrors! Not having the laptop at home, should I jump in the car, ignoring that I had my jammies on and race to the shop to Blog? Should I call Rachel and wake her and her family, begging her to Blog for me? Or should I just relax, wait for Thursday and admit my blunder. yep, option #3 wins!!

So our Open House was last Saturday. The weather was cold, rainy, windy and we were serving lemonade and lemon cookies! Perfect. and you know what? it was perfect. We were screamin busy as all my favorite customers came in, the party started, and we even had some brand new customers in to see what was goin on inside!

So now that our Open House is past, all focus is on preparing for The Farm Chicks show and getting our 2 booths darling, dazzling and tempting!

Wishing you all a blooming, sunny week.
Get outside and enjoy warm temps and blue skies, and since I'm stuck inside, come over and see me!

All the best,
Colette

Meet my amazing team!

I wish I had photos of the two most amazingly talented women who help me in my shops. Actually, help isn't really the word. More like inspire, dazzle, motivate and nudge me to do more!

Rachel joined my team late last summer, and we instantly clicked. As the weeks went by,it was as if we were connected mentally, as we would both come in with the same display ideas for the shop. Crazy! I made her my Principal Buyer, and I send her out to handpick my merchandise. Wow is she good! I love everything she buys, and want it myself!! Rachel is a mother of 3, and perhaps that is why she has fabulous displays that are fun, fresh, youthful and do I dare say, quirky!? I don't have a photo of her latest, but imagine a vintage birdcage, with a plush stuffed cat sitting inside it, surrounded by bird feathers... Can you picture the guilty look on the cat's face?! You get what I'm saying about quirky now, huh! Rachel never fails to make me laugh! What is going on in her mind next?

Thankfully, balancing quirky, is Betsy, who is the epitome of class, patience and detail mindedness. She is thoughtful, very artistic, and has been on my team since early fall. She is now my Events Coordinator, and has lined up all of the artists for my Whitefish shop " Gallery Nights". Our first Art Walk of the season is Thursday night, May 6! Betsy is always composed and no matter my panic, keeps a calm exterior and tells me, "all will be well" and she's always right! Betsy is also responsible for much of the detailing of the floorsets we do, making everything perfect and artistic!

See how lucky I am to have such amazing women working with me?
It doesn't get any better!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

All the best,
Colette
